Privacy Policy

Cats of the Web (“we”, “us”) runs catsoftheweb.com, a directory of famous cats on the internet. This page explains what we collect and why.

What we collect

Cat submissions

If you use the Submit a Cat form, we collect the cat’s name, a link (usually a social profile), a short description, your name, and your email address. We store that as a private submission in our WordPress admin and email a copy to meow@catsoftheweb.com so we can review it. We do not publish your email on the site.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-L4G4MMVZS6) to understand how people use the site — which pages are read, roughly where traffic comes from, and basic device info. Google may set cookies or use similar storage for this. See Google’s privacy policy for how Google handles that data.

Server logs and hosting

The site is hosted on Hostinger. Like most hosts, the server may keep standard access logs (IP address, time, requested URL, browser user agent) for security and debugging. We do not use those logs to build marketing profiles.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal data. We do not run a public comment system on posts. We do not require an account to browse the directory.

Cookies

Browsing the public site works without an account. Analytics (above) may use cookies. If you sign in to the admin area, WordPress sets login cookies so you stay signed in.

How long we keep submission data

We keep cat submissions until we have reviewed them and no longer need them. We may delete a submission after it is handled, or keep it if we are still considering the cat for the directory. You can email us to ask us to delete a submission you sent.
