The human-style trend is the bigger story. Nimbus, the white longhair from the "OH LONG JOHNSON" video, is another. Smoothie, a British Longhair often called the world's most photogenic cat, lent her name to a generation of fluffy cats.

Beyond those two groups, modern cat naming includes the food names (Mochi, Olive, Pickle, Beans), nature names (Sage, Willow, River), and band/musician names (Bowie, Lennon, Hendrix, Marley, Ziggy). Bowie has been particularly common for cats with heterochromia (different-colored eyes), referencing David Bowie's eyes (though Bowie's eyes were actually the result of an injury, not heterochromia).

If you want a modern name that will not feel dated in five years, the human-style names tend to age better than the meme-driven ones. Luna and Oliver will probably still feel current in 2030; Bingus and Floppa might not.
