Coby is a white British Shorthair with large blue eyes. TIME's February 2016 piece called him possibly the prettiest cat on the internet and pointed to the snow-white coat and the stare. Mashable covered the same account that month. Mashable said the Instagram page @cobythecat had been live since June 2015.

His owner, Rebecca, told Mashable she fell in love with the blue eyes and fluffy white coat, and that he fell asleep in her arms. TIME quoted her saying that after 150,000 followers plus free food and supplies from sponsors, she started taking the account more seriously. Press roundups name her as art director Rebecca Schefkind.

Mashable's February 2016 update said Coby was about to celebrate his first birthday, which puts his birth around 2015. Mashable did not publish an exact date. Blue eyes are uncommon for the breed. British Shorthairs more often have copper or gold eyes.
